Easy Hawaiian Pulled Pork
Recipe: Easy Hawaiian Pulled Pork
INGREDIENTS
- 2 1/2 pounds boneless pork butt or pork shoulder
- 1 1/2 tablespoon Hawaiian Red Alaea Sea Salt (use less salt if desired)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
METHOD
1. Rub vegetable oil over pork butt/shoulder throughly and sprinkle Hawaiian Alaea salt sparsely on each side.
2. On a skillet over medium high heat, sear each side of pork until light brown. (Note: You may skip this step and transfer pork to slow cooker directly. However, it will take longer to cook through. Approximately 7-8 hours total cooking time.)
3. Remove pork from skillet and transfer to slow cooker. Cook on high for 3 hours and switch to low setting. Continue slow cook for another 2-3 hours.
4. Pork should be very tender and easily fall apart after 5 hours of slow cooking. Pierce with a fork to confirm tenderness.
5. Remove from slow cooker onto a plate. Shred pork with 2 forks by pulling apart.
6. Serve with steamed rice or use as a filling for burger, roll, sandwich, or taco.
